So what can you do with MyClassicalGas ?

Well, once you set up an account and you've logged in we recommend you first bookmark your profile page then click on the "Profile" link in your menu strip and complete the form. This will create an identity for yourself which the world will see. If you haven't got all the answers to hand don't worry, you can always update your profile at any time.

Alongside the "Profile" link in the menu strip you will see "Messages" which, as you would expect, will take you to your messages page. Here you can send messages to other members of MyClassicalGas. Use it as you would any e-mail application except that you only use the members username in the "To" field. Use the menu panel on the left to create a new message and check your inbox etc. If you want to include emoticons in your messages just click on an image which reflects your mood. By the way, when someone sends you a message you will receive notification through the e-mail address you used to register (unless you already chosen to turn off that feature in your settings).

Next in the menu strip is the "Blog" link. You can create your own specific Blog in MyClassicalGas which any member can access after they have subscribed to it. Similarly you can read Blogs by other members when you subscribe to them. All you do is click on "My Subscriptions" in the menu panel and key in the username of the Blog you wish to subscribe to. If you change your mind you can unsubscribe yourself later. You can access any Blog you subscribe to by clicking on the users picture button (under "Random Users") and then their Blog link in their profile menu. Once you have subscribed you will be notified of any new Blogs created by the relevant member. As with most Blogs you can add your own comments.

"Buddies" is the next link in the menu strip. Here you can invite any member whose profile you find of interest to be your Buddy. To do so just visit their profile and click on "Add Buddies" in the menu panel located to the left of the page. Your list of buddies can be viewed by clicking on the "My Buddies" link. You can also find out who has added you to their Buddies list by clicking on the "Buddy Spy" button.

Next you will find "Favorites" which works like "My Buddies" except that your list remains private and cannot be viewed by other members.

You can add comments to a members "Guestbook" in the next link. Members are notified of all new entries by e-mail. Please note that members have the individual right to allow or deny guestbook comments.

In the next menu links "Pictures", "Music" and "Videos" you can manage and upload items you wish to display for all members to see - up to the total number shown. You can use this feature to both share interesting material and to promote your classical music or that of others with whom you are involved or favor. Please ensure that you have full "rights" to use any and all material you upload - if in doubt do not do so. Any items found to be in contravention of copyright laws will be removed - as will offensive and other material which is deemed inappropriate. Members are requested to notify MyClassicalGas of anything which might fall foul of this stipulation. To avoid system overload please keep the file sizes of uploads as small as possible. If you have doubts and/or problems please ask MyClassicalGas for assistance.

The "Ratings" link will take you to your page where you can see details of members you have either given ratings to or from whom you have received rating yourself.

You can create "Groups" which relate to specific areas of music where you have the option to auto-approve members and also allow non-members to view you group. You can browse events by clicking on the main menu "Events" link (the red buttons) and also select if you wish to attend the event. You can use this feature to promote your own concerts or any event which you wish to publicise.

Use the "Contacts" link to create any names, addresses and phone number you want to store on your account.

Finally from your menu strip you can preset many options using the "Settings" link page to change the "default" preferences along with password and e-mail address.
